Integrating Culture in Comprehensible and Compelling Ways
"Learn the culture, accept the people." (Katya Paukova, NTPRS 2016) How do we integrate culture in relevant and personalized ways? How can we keep the conversations engaging and the readings comprehensible? This session discusses the characteristics that make culture comprehensible and compelling, and the CI tools used to integrate them so that students enjoy learning the language and making cultural comparisons of products, practices and perspectives.

Identify and integrate cultural activities that maximize comprehensible input
Identify and integrate some celebrations of festivals, holidays and special events in school year into activities in the language classroom is another fun way of applying CI and allows students to experience the all cultures. Examples include Chinese Lantern Festival, Halloween and Spirit Week
